Have you always wanted to try your hand at watercolour painting? Are you looking to develop a new skill or way of expressing yourself?
Veronica Bailey, one of our members whose artwork can be seen in Midhurst, is running introductory courses on watercolour painting. These will be advertised in the Midhurst u3a eNewsletter and on the web site.
Veronica has painted in the delicate medium of watercolours for several years now, mostly of the beautiful English countryside and has taken part in many local exhibitions to show rural England at its best.
In the beginner's class, she covers the basics of paper stretching, colour mixing, creating a colour chart, tonal values, composition, lifting out and lots more. There will be plenty of advice, encouragement, and demonstrations. This course is for those who have never painted in watercolours but have always wanted to try, without being terrified! Some parts of the course will require quite a bit of concentration.
The classes are structured and there are summary handouts for you to read at your leisure, enabling you to enjoy the class without having to make notes of the content or which colours are mixed to create that very special 'green'.
Materials are supplied, together with a mount and printouts, covering all aspects of the short course. There will be a charge to cover the hire of the hall and materials, depending on numbers attending. The maximum number is 4.
The courses are active with standing, gathering for demonstrations, walking back and forth to the kitchen to change the water pots and wash the brushes etc. and standing whilst using a hairdryer to speed things up. At times, concentration will be needed.
You must be a member of Midhurst u3a to participate in our groups.
