Digital Everything!

A new Midhurst u3a group: Digital Everything! will start soon to facilitate learning and understanding of the new digital technologies and applications that members might enjoy and/or may be required to use in the future.

Pauline Ryder has happily agreed with our longstanding group organiser, Jean Farguson, who runs Computers, Tablets and iPhones, to initiate this second group. Pauline has been the Digital Volunteer at Midhurst Library for some time and has nearly four decades of experience with a wide range of devices, applications and programmes.

Regarding the subject matter, Pauline will be led by requests from members and will be able to prioritise those that seem most urgent. A wide variety of subjects could be covered in the group - for example:

  • General use of mobile phones, tablets and laptops/computers, including settings, updates, backing up and security.
  • Design and set-up of file structures to manage volumes of documents, spreadsheets and/or images - where things are!
  • Finding, adding, and deleting apps.
  • Free versus subscription services.
  • AI and search engine use.
  • Interaction with government, healthcare and other official websites and applications.
  • Applications in use around the home, including central heating/hot water, security cameras, smart locks, door bell/video, blinds, heart pressure units, etc.
  • Digital phone conversion of analogue telephone land-lines.
  • Use of the phone camera.
  • Photo manipulation software and applications, including cropping and adjusting pre and post capture.

If you are interested in joining the group click on Pauline's name (in blue at the top of the page) and complete the email form. If possible identify what you are most interested in and score, where 5 is very keen to address and 1 is not interested, and then send to Pauline Any comments and further ideas are also welcome
